Transitions

Life is going to change whether we like it or not.

The only constant in life is change. No getting around it…uncertainty and constant work are its companions. This could be getting a new job, losing a loved one, a pet or relationship and your world is turned upside down…emotions are all over the place. NOW WHAT?

Transitions = Change and incredible growth. Although unpleasant. These can be positive and negative: birth of a child, new job or political changes, tragedy, retirement, health issues, empty nest…

These can be predictable and unpredictable….kids going to college, promotions, traumatic event etc. Each with its own degree and intensity and it thrusts us into action. We resist, we doubt, we fear,….everything is new…we have never faced this before.

And all of a sudden a new chapter opens in our lives and changes our direction and google doesn’t help and there is no GPS. Now it’s time for self-reflection, a change in perspective, letting go of the past and starting new. Its uncomfortable, we are disconnected and it is overwhelming…we kind hit rock bottom..

But you can make it…connecting with others, taking it one step at a time….climbing back up and onward.

Transitions

We can't stop Transitions from happening to us.

But, what we will learn is how to stop resisting them. A counselor will teach you how to accept such changes and move on.

Sometimes, all we need is a little push and an ear to mourn our loss and grief to guide us through this transitional period.

Whether its a positive change or a negative change, the process remains the same. We need to learn to let go of what was and adapt to what is or what can be.

Transitions counseling helps us do the same in a supportive and safe environment.

The Need for Transitions Counseling

Value-based or Transitional counseling can help you determine how the life you are leading will adapt to the given foundational shift.

It’s normal to have questions regarding your life and how to identify yourself. For instance, when your children move out of your family home, your immediate circle of influence is significantly affected. You no longer have to think about their meals and their studies causing a lot of idle time to kill. The voids they leave behind can cause a lot of anxiety and stress.
